The NVL girls basketball tournament seeds will be finalized by the end of tonight’s games, but there are still seven different scenarios that could play out.
The 1-3 and 7-8 seeds are all locked in. St. Paul (18-0 NVL) is the top seed, followed by Holy Cross (16-1) at No. 2 and Sacred Heart at No. 3 (14-4). The No. 7 seed is Woodland (11-6) and No. 8 is Wolcott (8-9).
The seeds that haven’t been decided yet are four, five and six, and they are up for grabs between Seymour, Ansonia and Naugatuck.
Tonight’s games
- Ansonia is at Wolcott
- Seymour plays at WCA (5-12 NVL)
- Naugatuck hosts Kennedy (4-13)
The Chargers and Eagles tip at 6 p.m. The Wildcats and Spartans tip at 7 p.m., and the same goes for the Greyhounds and Eagles.
Seeding scenarios
There are seven scenarios involving the fourth, fifth and sixth seeds. Here are those seven scenarios:
Seymour, Ansonia and Naugatuck all win. The Wildcats would be the No. 4 seed over the No. 5 Chargers because they have one more league win. The Greyhounds would be No. 6 because the Chargers would have one less league loss.
Seymour, Ansonia and Naugatuck all lose. The seeds would be the same as the first scenario. Naugatuck and Woodland would both be 12-6, but the Greyhounds beat the Hawks head-to-head.
Seymour and Ansonia lose; Naugatuck wins. The Wildcats would still be the No. 4 seed by virtue of their win head-to-head against the No. 5 Greyhounds. The Chargers would have one less win than the Greyhounds and would be the No. 6 seed.
Seymour and Naugatuck lose; Ansonia wins. The Chargers would be the No. 4 seed, followed by the Wildcats at No. 5 and Greyhounds at No. 6.
Seymour loses; Ansonia and Naugatuck win. The Chargers would be the No. 4 seed because of one less league loss than the Wildcats at No. 5 and Greyhounds at No. 6. Seymour would be the No. 5 because of its win over Naugatuck.
Ansonia loses; Seymour and Naugatuck win. The Wildcats would be the No. 4 seed, followed by the Greyhounds at No. 5 and Chargers at No. 6.
Naugatuck loses; Seymour and Ansonia win. The Wildcats would be the No. 4 seed, followed by the Chargers at No. 5 and Greyhounds at No. 6.
