Friday’s (Jan. 11) high school highlights: Late free throws lift Derby over Ansonia

Jahwan Cody made two free throws to put host Derby ahead with one second left to beat Ansonia, 52-50, on Friday night.
Cody finished with a game-high 21 points. Martin Antoine had a team-high 13 points fir the Chargers.
Wolcott 57, Naugatuck 53: Chris Harris had 21 points and the Eagles outscored the Greyhounds, 22-7, in the fourth quarter.
Jack Drewery added 12 points for Wolcott.
Jean Lukau had 15 points and Ese Onakpoma added 12 for Naugatuck.
Crosby 85 Kennedy 66: Tyler Spears had a game-high 23 points and seven assists and Kerwin Prince added 22 points with 16 rebounds for the Bulldogs. Matt Torres has 22 points for the Eagles and Jay Turner added 16.
Torrington 83, Oxford 43: Dontae Thomas led all scorers with 23 points to guide the Red Raiders to victory. Hunter Keller led the Wolverines with 14 points.
St. Paul 68, Watertown 39: A.J. Brooks had a monster game for the Falcons with 17 points, 10 rebounds, six assists and six blocks. Donovan Symes added 13 and Jack Noli 11 for St. Paul (3-6). David Aquavia led the Indians (1-7) with 10.
WCA 82, Wilby 42: Langstun Racine totaled 22 points and six steals to lead the Spartans. Marquan Watson netted a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.
Wamogo 78, Litchfield 40: Sean Coffey and Ethan Collins each had 18 points for undefeated Warriors (9-0) and Reid Turturo chipped in with 16. Tripp Melk had a team-high 18 points for the Cowboys.
Lewis Mills 60, Housatonic 40: Josh Schibi netted 19 points to lead the Spartans. Evan Miller scored 14 points for the Mountaineers.
Gilbert 66, Northwestern 61: Dylan Crowley scored seven of his 18 points in the fourth quarter as the Yellowjackets pulled away from their crosstown rival. Hunter Smith led Gilbert (5-3) with 22 points and Riley Weiss had 10. Juan Sarmiento grabbed 16 rebounds.
For Northwestern (5-4), Levi Delaney hit for 23 points.
Terryville 54, Thomaston 46: Albert Molina scored 14 points, 11 in the first period, and Zack Rinkavage also had 14 for the Kangaroos (2-5). Chad Suckley scored a game-high 18 for Thomaston.
Kaynor Tech 73, Wolcott Tech 25: Nashua Lovett led the Panthers with 18 points, 10 rebounds and three assists. Saijon McIntosh added 15 points and Fernando Cerda had 11.
Notre Dame-Fairfield 62, Pomperaug 45: Dion Zhuta scored a team-high 18 points for the Panthers.
Cheshire 68, North Haven 39: Colby Griffin scored 18 points to lead the Rams.
Enfield 72, Bristol Eastern 48: Jahcyrus Bynum scored a team high 17 points for the Lancers.
Chase 56, Forman 42: Rafael Mahario scored a team-high 15 points as the Highlanders won their third game in a row. Jamal Clarke added 13 points and 12 rebounds with five blocks.
Nonnewaug 65, Shepaug 63: Jarrett Michaels had a game high 18 points to lead the Chiefs. James Gengenbach had 16 points and 12 boards.
Cole Donaghey and Owen Hibbard both scored 14 points for Shepaug.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Oxford 65, Torrington 46: Kelly Shpak hit six 3-pointers to lead the Wolverines with 22 points. Molly Sastram added 14 points and Paige Davis had 13.
Alyssa Maraia scored 25 points for the Red Raiders.
Sacred Heart 50, Holy Cross 36: Aamya Rivera had 14 points and seven rebounds and Paige Carroll added 14 points and four steals as the Hearts (8-2) rolled over the Crusaders. Hannah Brown led Cross (5-4) with eight points.
Kennedy 36, Crosby 31: Shyan Perez had a team-high 14 points and Javilet Soto chipped in with eight points and 10 rebounds for the Eagles.
Tiahna Pulliam scored a game-high 17 points for Crosby.
Naugatuck 64, Wolcott 56: Sara Macary led the Greyhounds with 24 points. Sarah Wisniewski added 15.
Kalani Rodriguez scored a career-high 20 points for the Eagles. Alisoin Leclerc had 13 points and Emiah Soto 11.
WCA 52, Wilby 21: Diane Samaroo scored a game-high 17 points to pace the Spartans.
St. Paul 63, Watertown 34: Jade Udoh led the Falcons with 23 points. Janessa Gonzalez added 22 points.
Jordyn Forte scored 13 for the Indians.
Housatonic 37, Lewis Mills 24: Christina Winburn scored a game-high 11 points as the Mountaineers remained unbeaten at 9-0.
Northwestern 52, Gilbert 30: Skyler DiMartino had 15 points and Emma Propfe added 14 to lead the Highlanders. Jana Sanden also had 13 points.
Thomaston 53, Terryville 25: Megan Guay had 16 points and Emma Sanson had 15 points and 12 rebounds for the Bears.
Zoe Zappone had 10 points for the Kangaroos.
Nonnewaug 47, Shepaug 44: Abby Scheurich had 20 points and Tori Maclean added 10 for the Chiefs.
Abigail Harty and Brooke Donaghy had 13 points each for the Spartans.
Wamogo 18, Litchfield 17: Paige Mitchell scored six points for the Warriors, and Molly Lennon had six for the Cowgirls.
Cheshire Academy 51, Greenwich Academy 33: Audrey Allen scored 12 points and Nia Hubbard added 11 for the Cats.
Wolcott Tech 44, Kaynor Tech 27: Abbigail Williams had a double-double for the Wildcats with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Yennifer Sarmiento had 10 points.
Antia Ozuna scored 10 for the Panthers.
Notre Dame-Fairfield 71, Pomperaug 66: Maggie Lee poured in 33 points as the Panthers (6-3) fell in overtime to the Lancers (7-1). Molly Flanagan grabbed 14 rebounds and had five assists, while Marina Lambiase had six assists and Jada Stietzel 11 rebounds.
Bristol Eastern 54, Enfield 29: Jordan Ouellette scored 16 points in leading the Lancers to a road win.
Chase Collegiate 48, Forman 17: Maddie Patrick scored 15 points and Loren Tuck chipped in 13 for the Highlanders.

BOYS SWIMMING
Naugatuck 98 Wilby-Kaynor Tech 78: Austin Herb won the 200 IM (2:28.46) and 100 free (57.01) to lead the Greyhounds.
Woodland 94, Kennedy 68: Greg Aldrich won the 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle to lead the Hawks.
