Friday’s (Jan. 4) high school highlights: Forte leads Watertown girls

Jordyn Forte recorded a double-double, scoring a team-high 14 points and hauling in 15 rebounds to lead Watertown past Naugatuck, 59-52, in an Naugatuck Valley League Iron Division clash in Watertown on Friday night.
Marissa Forino added 12 points for the Indians (7-1, 6-1, 2-0), who bounced back from their first loss of the season against Ansonia on Wednesday. Sarah Wisniewski led the Greyhounds (6-2, 6-2, 1-1), who saw their six-game win streak come to an end.
Sacred Heart 64, Crosby 40: Aamya Rivera had 23 points, Paige Carroll 15 and Mikayla Mobley 10 for the Hearts. Tiahna Pulliam had 29 for the Bulldogs.
Woodland 41, Ansonia 38 (OT): Gabby Mastropietro scored 10 points as the Hawks rallied from nine down at the start of the third quarter for the overtime win. Jojo Sanchez scored 20 for the Chargers, who had their five-game win streak snapped.
Seymour 35, Wolcott 28: Morgan Teodosio had 13 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Wildcats and Kolby Sirowich had 11 points and 10 rebounds. Adrianna Ferrucci had 11 points for the Eagles.
Holy Cross 66, Wilby 19: Alyssa Hebb scored 20 points to lead the Crusaders.
WCA 46, Kennedy 41: Leila Lazaro led WCA with 17 points and Shyan Perez had 11.
Leila Lazaro scored 17 points for the Eagles and Janelle Goodman added 11.
Oxford 60, Derby 30: Molly Sastram scored 19 points and Kelly Shpak added 15 for the Wolverines.
St. Paul 58, Torrington 37: Janessa Gonzalez and Jade Udoh led the Falcons with 12 points each.
Alyssa Maraia scored 11 points for the Raiders.
Shepaug 36, Terryville 27: Lucy Puskas had 12 points, six rebounds and five steals for the Spartans. Abigail Harty added 13 points and Hailey Lasky had 13 rebounds. Lauren Jacobs had 10 points for the Kangaroos.
Housatonic 45, Nonnewaug 30: Sierra O’Niel had 15 points and Christina Winburn added 10 for the unbeaten Mountaineers. Ashley Hennessey had 13 for the Chiefs.
Northwestern 51, Thomaston 24: Natalie Lederman had a game-high 18 points and Emma Propfe added 12 for the Highlanders.
Gilbert 48, Litchfield 27: Jill Wexler totaled 11 points to pace the Yellowjackets.
Pomperaug 55, Barlow 22: Maggie Lee had 21 points and 11 rebounds and Molly Flanagan had 14 rebounds with six assists for the Panthers.
Cheshire 45, SHA 33: Mia Juodaitis had 18 points and Kaylee Clark 10 for the Rams.
Wolcott Tech 32, Platt Tech 25: Yennifer Sarmiento scored 12 points with six rebounds while Katiusca DeLaCruz scored seven points with 10 rebounds and eight steals.

BOYS BASKETBALL
Torrington 62, St. Paul 40: Dontae Thomas, Joel Villanueva and Kevin Dixon had 11 points each for the Raiders. Donovan Symes had nine points for the Falcons.
Wolcott 80, Seymour 66: Elmin Redzepagic poured in a game high 40 points for the Eagles. Christopher Harris chipped in with 11. Dion Perkins led the Wildcats with 21 points and Max Gayle had 19 points and nine rebounds. Dan Manente added 12 rebounds.
Holy Cross 85, Wilby 37: Akili Evans led the Crusaders with 13 points and Jahvon Myrthil had 12.
Cyryz Smith scored 12 for the Wildcats.
Naugatuck 80, Watertown 45: Jean Lukau led all scoring with 23 points for the Greyhounds and Derrick Jagello had 15. Avery Hennet tallied a double-double with 12 points and 17 rebounds.
Northwestern 68, Thomaston 50: Levi Delaney had a game-high 26 points for the Highlanders and Joe Ogonoski added 14. Andrew Colacecchio had a team-high 19 points for Thomaston and Keegan Daigle added 17.
Nonnewaug 61, Housatonic 55: Jackson Baker netted 15 points and made some key steals in the final minutes to improve the Chiefs’ record to 4-1. James Gengenbach and Jarrett Michaels both added 14 and Jon Khazzaka had 12.
For Housatonic (1-5), Zach Ongley hit for 16 and Cameron Ackerman scored 14.
Wamogo 72, Lewis Mills 35: Garrett Sattazahn had a game-high 24 points and Reid Turtoro added 17 points for the Warriors. Josh Schibi had a team-high 17 points for the Spartans.
Litchfield 69, Gilbert 42: Tripp Melk scored 18 points while Jared Guilmart and Evan Fischthal each tallied 14 for the Cowboys.
Joe Brugmann scored 13 and Matt Ma 12 for Gilbert.
WCA 90, Kennedy 67: Marquan Watson led all scorers with 37 points to pace the Spartans.
Khalil Simon added 14 points and Langstun Racine and Jonathan Edwards had 12 each for WCA.
Synciere Dozier led the Eagles with 22 points. Jay Turner added 15.
Derby 71, Oxford 41; Shymar Robinson had a game-high 19 points and Jahwan Cody added 13 to lead Red Raiders in Oxford. Tanner Soracco scored 12 points for the Wolverines.

Kaynor Tech 69, O’Brien Tech 28: Nashua Lovett scored 15 points and also contributed six rebounds, four blocked shots and five steals while Fernando Cerda added 11 points for the Panthers.
Ansonia 66, Woodland 55: Glenn Hines scored 21 while Sheldon Schuler and Martin Antoine added 12 and 10, respectively for the Chargers. Woodland received 21 points from Mick Meier and 10 apiece from Zack Bedryczuk and Jason Palmieri.

Boys swimming
Holy Cross 95, Wilby-Kaynor 80: Luciano D’Amelio, Chris Ford, Alex Ford, Seamas Bowler won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:48.82 for the Crusaders. Alex Ford won the 100 butterfly (56.16) and Chris Ford won the 100 free (51.16)
Matheus Silva won diving for the Wildcats (253.43).
