Thursday’s highlights: Wamogo knocks off NW

BOYS BASKETBALL
Garrett Sattazahn scored 21 points to lead the Wamogo High boys basketball team to a 46-40 win at Northwestern on Thursday, handing the Highlanders their first Berkshire League loss. Sean Coffey added 13 for the Warriors, who outscored the home team in the final period, 15-10.
Zack Penn had a team-high 13 for the Highlanders (17-1), who could’ve clinched a tie for the BL title with a win.
Lewis Mills 74, Litchfield 47: Josh Schibi had 18 points and seven rebounds and Kyle Alvarez added 15 points, four rebounds, four steals and three blocks for the Spartans. Tripp Melk had 20 points for the Cowboys.
Shepaug 76, Gilbert 55: Kyle LaMay poured in 28 points, including four 3-pointers, Joe Brunelli added 18 and Jack Schneider 11 for the Spartans in the road win. Joe Brugmann led Gilbert with 19 points and Riley Weiss had 11.
Nonnewaug 63, Thomaston 51: James Gengenbach had a monster game of 15 points, 11 rebounds and seven blocks for the Chiefs. Ryan Cleary led Nonnewaug with 20 points and Jarrett Michaels added 15.
Drew Colavecchio led the Bears with a game-high 22 points, with four treys.
Ansonia 54, Oxford 43: Alfonso Smith and Martin Antoine combined for 39 points, including eight 3-pointers, to lead the Chargers in an NVL game in Ansonia. Zach Geffert had 14 points for Oxford.
Notre Dame-Fairfield 85, Pomperaug 53: In an SWC game, Josh Reaves had a game-high 29 points to lead the Lancers. Jason Hirschauer had 13 points with five assists for Pomperaug and Will McDonald had eight rebounds.

GIRLS BASKETBALL
Northwestern 53, Wamogo 39: Emma Propfe scored a game-high 16 points to lead Northwestern and Morgan Daley had 12. Samantha Sylvester and Alexis Weik each had 11 points for Wamogo.
Housatonic 47, Terryville 32: Olivia Forstmann had 13 points and 16 rebounds for the Mountaineers, who also got 11 points from Emily Geyselaers. McKenzie Huria had a game-high 16 for Terryville.
Gilbert 44, Shepaug 41: Marcela Moreira hit for 11 points as the Yellowjackets held off the Spartans’ fourth-quarter rally. Olivia Moore scored 14 and Avery Serra 12 for Shepaug, which outscored the visitors, 15-8, in the final period.
Nonnewaug 43, Thomaston 33: Mary Bibbey led all scorers with 22 points for the Chiefs on the road. Alexa Milius scored 11 points and Emily Root had 10 for the Bears.
Lewis Mills 40, Litchfield 14: Alyssa Wrabel put in 10 points to pace the Spartans on the road.
Oxford 42, Ansonia 29: Kelly Shpak had a game-high 15 points to lead the Wolverines in the final NVL regular-season game.
