WATERBURY — St. Paul advanced to the NVL championship with a 44-38 victory over Kennedy in the semifinal round game at Kennedy High’s Jack Taglia Gymnasium on Monday night.
Jade Udoh led the No. 2 Falcons (19-3) with 14 points, and Brigid Johndrow added 11.
The Falcons needed late hoops to get past the No. 6 Eagles (16-6). Udoh, Johndrow, and Lexi Morneault all scored late baskets.
For Kennedy, Joyce Benton led with 18, including eight in the second quarter when the Eagles briefly took the lead.
The Falcons meet the winner of the second semifinal Monday, between No. 1 Holy Cross and No. 4 Torrington.
