The Housatonic girls basketball team clinched a tie for its first Berkshire League title since 1998 with a 38-27 win over Lewis Mills on Tuesday in Falls Village.
The Mountaineers (18-2) shared a BL title with Wamogo in 1997 and defended their crown outright in 1998.
Thomaston, the five-time defending league champs, can clinch a share of the title tonight at home with a win over Terryville.
The Bears and Mountaineers split their two regular-season games this season, each winning on their own court.
“We knew we had a lot of talent and all the pieces were in place (to win a title). We just had to put them together,” said first-year coach Steve Dodge. “We put winning the title as one of our goals and it became more reachable as the season went along.”
Amanda Jacquier led the Mountaineers with 14 points. Chloe Dakers added 12.
